Sofia deSaussure

Sofia is thrilled to call the Lowcountry her home. She joined the WCBD-TV team in 2016 after graduating from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned a degree in Journalism.

During her time at SMU, she worked as a reporter covering stories on campus.
Sofia started her career in Charleston as a weekend reporter and was soon promoted to weekend anchor. She is currently serving as the anchor of WCBD’s latest addition, News 2 at 4 p.m.

A trained multimedia journalist, she is always prepared to get out and cover the stories that matter to you, including crime, infrastructure, and high profile court cases.

Over the years she has covered Hurricane Matthew, Hurricane Irma, and historic flooding across the coast. In 2018 she reported from Ciba, Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Working with Joint Base Charleston and the United States Air Force she was able to fly on a C-17 for several relief missions stopping in New York and Texas.

Sofia was born and raised in Miami, FL and is a proud Cuban-American. When she’s not out on the field you can find her soaking up all South Carolina has to offer at any of Charleston’s many amazing eateries, beautiful beaches, or historical landmarks.
