CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – It’s a concert for a cause – The Duke Pitchforks and Plantations Singers are coming together to help raise money for abused and neglected children.

A benefit concert planned for Saturday, February 2nd, will benefit families served by HALOS – grandparents and other relatives who are raising children to keep them out of foster care.

The concert is scheduled to begin a 6:30 p.m. at Circular Congressional Church at 150 Meeting Street in downtown Charleston.

Tickets for the event are available at the door starting at 6:00 p.m. or online at charlestonhalos.org.

Leaders with the organization say 74,000 children across South Carolina are being raised by grandparents or other relatives.

These individuals have stepped up to take care of the children in an effort to keep them out of foster care and do not receive financial assistance to support the children as foster families do.

HALOS is the only organization that provides comprehensive support services for the unique needs of these families.
