WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCBD) — On Thursday, December 8, multiple students at West Ashley High School engaged in a fight in the cafeteria, according to Charleston County School District (CCSD) officials.
According to Charleston Police, 10 girls were involved in the fight, and are being charged with disorderly conduct.
During the fight, pepper spray was used by a student, and multiple students were exposed to it. Charleston Police Department detained all those involved, and medical staff treated all parties affected by the pepper spray. No one was transported to the hospital.
The student who discharged pepper spray is also charged with having a weapon on school property.
School staff placed the school on Code Yellow Lockdown immediately to ensure safety for the student body and staff on campus.
The lockdown was lifted by 10 a.m. on Thursday, according to CCSD officials.
