CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating robberies at two businesses in less than two hours Wednesday evening.

Officials say deputies responded to the Dollar General Store at 3886 Savannah Highway at about 7:50 p.m. on January 4 for reports of a robbery.

One armed African-American male dressed in dark clothing entered the store and demanded money, while the second suspect stood on the outside of the store as a lookout, according to spokesman Major Eric Watson. The suspect who entered the store also had his face covered. Both suspects fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash.

The department was also sent to the 6143 Savannah Highway at about 9:30 p.m. for reports of a robbery as well.

We’re told the suspects in the second robbery involved two African-American males with a similar description.  Both suspects fled the scene with an unknown amount of cash.

The two businesses are about 7.7 miles apart, according to Google Maps.

There were no report of injuries in either incidents. Authorities believe both robberies are connected.
