Bank robbery reported at South State Bank in Murrells Inlet


MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WCBD) — The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a robbery in Murrells Inlet.

Authorities say on Wednesday, November 23 at 4:11 p.m., a man walked into Sun State Bank bank and showing a note, demanding money. He also placed a suspicious cylindrical item onto the counter, according to a news release.

The suspect grabbed the note and an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank heading south on HWY 17.

The suspect was arrested ¼ mile from the bank. He’s currently being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center.

His identity has not been released yet.

Officials with GCSO say they will offer more information when details are released by investigators.
