Community and police come together for softball game

News

Local police going to bat Saturday to improve the relationship with the community. North Charleston police officers participated in a community fun day, filled with a pick-up softball game,  home run derby, and free throw competition. The event had food, music, and a collection of school supplies for local kids in need. Event organizers say the point of the event is for all people in North Charleston to get to know each other and build on the connections they already have.

North Charleston Police Department Captain Terrell Palmer says, “Activities like this not only solidifies the relationship that’s already been here in North Charleston, but it also shows other communities this is how we work together. Any relationship, there are going to be some snags, but you work through those snags and work toward a common goal and today we want to generate supplies for our children and build on a relationship that’s already been established.”

The Lowcountry Rise All Stars defeated North Charleston Police Department during the softball game with a score of 18-10. The organizer of the event called this the “start of a new beginning” ans says there will be many more plans to bring law enforcement and locals together.
