James B. Edwards School of Global Leadership in Mount Pleasant is our Cool School of the week.
JBE has 630 students in Child Development through fifth grade.
The school has a unique program that started as a small greenhouse project. It has now grown into a schoolwide outdoor classroom.
The school broke ground last summer on the Kenny Seamon Greenhouse. The horticulture program includes raised crop beds, used for
for healthy tastings and to supplement the school’s back pack buddies program with fresh produce for families on free or reduced lunch.
Parent and grandparent volunteers teach horticulture to all grade levels. The school also has a sustainability program.
We’ll have more on JBE’s Horticulture program coming up tonight on News 2 at 5pm.
