62-year-old Manning man charged with DUI following crash in Clarendon County

CLAREDON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a deadly crash in Clarendon County, Saturday evening.

Anthony Lamonth Jones, 62, of Manning, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death and felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury.

Troopers say the incident happened at 6:05 p.m. February 10 on Silver Road near Raccoon Road.

The vehicle Jones was driving was traveling north on Racoon Road. The driver of a 2013 Ford SUV, later identified as John Eaddy, 77, of Manning, was traveling east on Silver Road.

Jones ran off the right side of the roadway – within the traffic circle, ran off the road to the left, and struck a concrete median, according to L/Cpl Matt Southern.  Jones then struck Eaddy’s SUV, Southern added.

Medics transported both Jones and a passenger to McLeod Health Clarendon.

Eaddy was transported to McLeod Health Clarendon and then airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital where he later died.Keep checking counton2.com for real-time updates on this story.
