Charleston Fire Department investigating back-back-fires

Crime News

The Charleston Fire Department has responded to four vacant building fires over the last several weeks. The Fire Marshall is asking for the community’s help to prevent them.

“We need your help to reduce this risk in our community,” Michael A. Julazadeh, Chief Fire Marshal for the Charleston Fire Department explained.

The buildings were unsecured, and squatters were living inside, according to Chief Julazadeh.

In a video posted on social media over the weekend, he said property owners and managers are responsible for keeping buildings weather tight and secured.

Neighbors can call 724-7311 to report problems.
