Dog found dead with duct tape around its muzzle in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Orangeburg County Animal Control is investigating after a dog was found with its mouth bound with tape in Salley.

Officials say that a citizen passing by Yale Street on June 19 found the body of a dog with his mouth bound with white duct tape. The dog appeared to have starved to death and was dumped at the location, according to a news release.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.WARNING – GRAPHIC IMAGE: VIEW PHOTO HERE

“Taping a dog’s mouth shut and allowing the animal to starve to death is heartbreakingly cruel and also a serious crime,” said Kim Kelly, the HSUS’ South Carolina state director. “We hope our reward helps find the person or persons who committed this despicable act,” Kelly added.

If you have any information about the case, you are asked to call 803-534-0045.

The National Sheriffs’ Association and The HSUS launched ICE BlackBox, a free smartphone tool, to allow users to record video of illegal animal cruelty and share it securely with law enforcement for possible investigation and prosecution.
