Everyday Hero: Lucas Meyer

Everyday Heroes

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Tonight’s Everyday Hero shows that just one simple act of kindness can mean so much.

This time the act of kindness came from a three-year-old. Lucas Meyer had the opportunity to show News 2’s Brendan Clark everything in his playroom and occasionally setting him straight.

But the pride of this playroom is Lucas’ firetrucks that he loves. That’s where this story begins, recently Lucas’ mom, Alexis, saw that the family of a friend had lost everything in a fire so she was packing up clothes for that family one-year-old child.

Lucas asked what his mother was doing and she explained to him that we don’t need these things anymore and there is someone who needs them more than they do. Lucas jumped in to help and went into his playroom gathering toys and his favorite firetruck.

This was the first fire truck that was really important to him so they sat him down and talked about it and he said, “Yes, he’d love it too.” This is one of those moments as a parent that you are like “Wow, this is amazing, this kid is on the right track and it’s really awesome to see that happen.”

Lucas Meyers with a life lesson we can all learn from. The friend of the family which received the firetruck from Lucas got him another firetruck and a tour of a local fire station as a way of saying thanks.
