GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCBD) – To protect and serve, that is the motto for law enforcement across the nation.

On Wednesday, an officer with the Goose Creek Police Department was seen giving back to the community which he serves.

In a Facebook post, the department said they received photos of Officer Burgan placing items in one of the blessing boxes around town.

“This is not being done as part of his job, but just as something he chose to do on his own,” the department said in the post. “It’s unselfish acts such as these that officers do all the time that often go unnoticed.”

Blessing Boxes are custom made food pantries where community members and neighbors donate non-perishable food items or personal hygiene products for those in need or less fortunate.

Nice work Officer Burgan!
