RESTAURANT REPORT CARD: Second C-grade for North Charleston restaurant

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) -- The Fish Hut in North Charleston received its second C-grade on May 31.

The violations include numerous flies observed in the kitchen and near front entrance.

Behind the facility, near an underground grease trap, the Department of Health and Environmental Control inspector noted a greasy substance continues to leak.

The septic tank, drain field and grease trap was surveyed by wastewater and septic department staff. The inspection shows repairs needed to be made.

King Market on King Street got a C-grade in a follow-up inspection June 1.

The only violation was for no food protection manager certification provided.

Tabbouli Grille Downtown received a B-grade yesterday.

Mold build-up was found on the frozen drink spouts and in the ice machine.

Some cold foods were kept too warm. Some foods were date marked past 7 days or not marked at all.

The DHEC inspector also noted the front doors to the kitchen were open with no fly fan, and excess fruit flies were seen in the kitchen and outside bar.

The shelves in the cooler and kitchen surfaces had food and dirt build up.

A follow-up inspection should happen by June 14.
