American Red Cross assisting family in Summerville after home fire

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — American Red Cross disaster-trained volunteers are assisting a family whose home, located on Jerry Way, was damaged by a fire this morning. The Pine Ridge Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The Red Cross is helping three adults by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, lodging and other essentials, and comfort kits containing personal hygiene items.

Every year, we celebrate March as National Red Cross Month. We use this month as a chance to honor and celebrate the everyday heroes who help us fulfill our mission.

Volunteers make up nearly 90% of the Red Cross’ workforce.
