Police investigating carjacking and assault outside Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, S. C. (WCBD) – Authorities responded to a carjacking and assault outside the Whole Foods Market in Mount Pleasant on Sunday.

A large presence of both police and Charleston County deputies were seen outside the store and had the parking lot taped off.

According to Inspector Don Calabrese with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers initially responded to reports of shots fired but said it turned out to be a carjacking and assault.

A victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officers are working to locate the suspect and vehicle. That vehicle is described as a gray Volkswagen Atlas with South Carolina plate: PWF-147.
