Authorities still looking for Stratford High student who had gun on campus

Local News

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – We are learning more about the reason Berkeley County deputies were trying to talk to a 16-year-old who had a loaded gun at Stratford High School Tuesday.

The teenage suspect is still on the run. Deputies from Berkeley County tell us he is a person of interest in connection to multiple vehicle break-ins.

They say there has been a sharp increase in vehicle break-ins in the past three months at numerous locations in the county. Most of the time, people just leave their cars unlocked. Several guns have been stolen.

The 16-year-old Stratford High student was targeted for questioning about several of these break-ins, including some in the College Park subdivision in Ladson.

“He’s a person of interest in some of the vehicle break-ins. We would like to speak to him about it right now. He is not being charged with those, we’re just still attempting to locate him and speak to him about it,” explained Capt. Michael Crumley with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
