BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Power is out once again for more than 4,000 customers in Berkeley County as temperatures near the century mark.
Officials with Berkeley Electric explained that the substation in the strawberry community has gone out and that they are still trying to fix it and figure out what the problem is.
They brought in a mobile substation yesterday to restore the power. Today that mobile substation overheated due to the increased use with these high temperatures, according to officials.
Power is back on everywhere now, and they are continuing to use the mobile substation until they can get the permanent substation fixed.
In the meantime, all the power is now back on.
Berkeley Electric stated that customers can help by trying to operate as many appliances as possible only after 7 pm.
“We realize this is frustrating and crews are already en route to assess the situation,” the utility company said on Facebook.
