GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCBD) – City leaders in Goose Creek are hoping to continue to attract new businesses to the area. Leaders from around the tri-county met on Tuesday to discuss that very issue.
During a ‘Business in Your Backyard’ session put on by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, leaders presented a study on Goose Creek which shows only 6.8% in area labor force efficiency.
That’s one of the lowest percentages in the area.
The city is promoting additional developments, like the $8 million Goose Creek Village. They are also hoping to find a restaurant and other businesses to move into the old city fire headquarters building,
Leaders say there is also a good light industrial prospect they are hoping to soon bring to the Crowfield Corporate Center.
They believe today’s event will bring businesses that will allow more people to live and work in the city.
“We’re very proud of the relationship we have not only with elected officials but also with county staff—when we call, they answer and vice versa,” said Erica Wright. “We’ll work together for the long term on a host of challenges and opportunities in our region.
The Chamber plans to continue working on adding additional areas to the opportunity study, including Hanahan, over the next year.
