Color run helps Lowcountry students raise funds for Miracle League ball field

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) If you’ve ever seen a color run, you know how much fun it is to watch and participate. A Berkeley County Elementary School held one of their own Thursday morning in Moncks Corner.

The kids had a blast at Foxbank Elementary as they ran through lots of colors and helped kids in need all at the same time.

This was the first color run at Foxbank Elementary aimed at raising money to build the Miracle League ball field at the Moncks Corner Recreation Complex.

It will have artificial turf and will be flat, allowing even kids in a wheelchair to play on the field.

The Town of Moncks Corner and Berkeley Electric has bucket trucks to throw powders of different colors on the kids—it was super fun.

This is the culmination of learning the kids have been involved with prior to today.

“Kids have spent weeks learning about pledges and disabilities and what it’s like to live with those disabilities, and how we want to include everyone,” said Ashley Hoban, a Special Education Teacher at Foxbank Elementary. “This is like our celebration to celebrate earning all the money for the Miracle League.”

The school was able to raise nearly $8,000 to help build the Miracle Field.
