BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Nearly 100 acres at the Camp Hall site where Volvo is located have been sold. The sale of that land is expected to bring even more jobs to Berkeley County.
Santee Cooper has closed on the sale of this land with Exeter Property Group; 75 of the 77 acres are developable. It’s part of the Camp Hall Commerce Park.
Exeter has also completed the permitting process. They plan to build a logistics park with three speculative buildings.
They hope to find tenants to fill the approximately 945-thousand square feet of space and plan to use the buildings for bulk warehousing and distribution.
Many more people will be working out here to build the buildings, and eventually run them.
Just down the road at Lebanon Quick Stop, Jessica Doremus says they have seen steady increases in business since this commerce park began with Volvo. She is glad to see more jobs but also concerned about how the development may impact this rural area.
“My husband and I were just looking at the blueprints for all that’s happening right here in the Canberry, and all that stuff, and we were like wow that is unbelievable amount of stuff is coming in such a short amount of time,” she said, “For me, it’s a blessing—but it’s also kind of scary and nerve-racking to see how much is going to happen.”
The next step in this process is finding the tenants to lease these industrial properties.
