MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest after investigating multiple vehicle break-ins in the Pinopolis community, according to spokesperson Carli Drayton.
The news release stated that deputies arrested 22-year-old James Denver Taylor, of Moncks Corner. Taylor was taken into custody on Tuesday on charges of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Petit Larceny.
After reports of multiple vehicle break-ins in the Pinopolis community, detectives executed a bait-car sting at a Pinopolis address. At approximately, 2 a.m., Taylor was seen going onto the property where the car was located, entering the bait-car and removing previously inventoried items from the bait-car.
Deputies soon made contact with Taylor and after he was advised of his rights, he confessed to committing multiple thefts from vehicles in the Pinopolis community. Taylor told deputies he selected vehicles that were unlocked.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind every citizen to ensure valuables are removed from vehicles parked overnight and that those vehicles are locked.
