BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – Berkeley County is mourning the loss of a leader and beloved sports announcer.

Jim Rozier, who served as Berkeley County supervisor for 16 years has passed away.

In addition to serving the people of Berkeley County, Rozier spent nearly 30 years as the “voice” of the Berkeley Stags.

After his retirement, Rozier went on to act as commission chairman for the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

In a note to News 2, family members wanted to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at MUSC and Trident Hospital, as well as Berkeley County EMT for their service and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking the community to honor Rozier through contributions to the Lord Berkeley Conservation Trust, Mepkin Abbey, or Moncks Corner United Methodist Church.
