MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities in Moncks Corner released new information about an apartment fire that left more than 30 people without a home.
According to Capt. Mark Fields with the Moncks Corner Police Department, crews responded to a structure fire at the Santee Run Apartments complex just after 12:30 a.m.
Capt. Fields said the structure was fully engulfed when crews arrived at the scene.
After the fire was put out, an incident report shows crews were able to confirm everyone had made it out of the building safely, but one person did sustain minor injuries.
According to the report, one resident gave a written statement saying he woke up on his couch to see his kitchen on fire.
Investigators later determined there was no criminal element to attribute to the cause of the fire, but the exact case remains under investigation.
