CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – The South Carolina Attorney General’s office says the state case against the former Berkeley County School District CFO is scheduled for Monday, March 25th.
Brantley Thomas is charged with over 30 counts of embezzlement, misconduct in office, forgery and other crimes during his time as the district’s Chief Finical Officer.
Officials believe he stole about $1.2 million over the years through various schemes to deposit money into personal accounts.
Thomas was sentenced to 63 months in prison on federal charges on February 20th.
If Thomas pleads guilty during the state trial, he would be sentenced that day. Any state charges would be served after he finishes serving his federal sentence.
