Suspect arrested following fatal stabbing in Moncks Corner

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal stabbing that happened early Wednesday morning.

According to BCSO spokesperson Carli Drayton, deputies responded to a home on Maries Lane in Moncks Corner in response to a burglary.

When Deputies arrived at the scene, a witness came out of the residence to inform deputies a victim was inside with stab wounds.

Drayton said the witness told deputies her ex-boyfriend broke into her residence and began stabbing a male in her home.

When the female in the home woke up, the suspect fled the residence.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died because of the injuries he received.

Berkeley County Coroner George Oliver said an autopsy is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.  A name has not yet been released.

The suspect was located shortly after the stabbing incident and was taken into custody by Berkeley County deputies. He has been identified as 26-year-old Mazen Alabsa of Summerville.

The incident remains under investigation.
