Berkeley High School remembers Jim Rozier as “Voice of the Stags”

Berkeley County, SC (WCBD)- Longtime voice of the Berkeley Stags and former Berkeley County Supervisor Jim Rozier passed away on February 6, 2019.

For nearly 30 years, Jim Rozier served as the announcer at Berkeley high school football games. It was a volunteer position that was very important to him. Berkeley High School said that he rarely missed a game and so they called him the “Voice of the Stags”.

The legacy left behind by Jim Rozier can be seen all around Berkeley County. Those who knew him say that he spent his entire life giving back to people. Berkeley High School says that their football program was enhanced by his presence on Friday nights where he served as the announcer for the Stags Football team since 1990. The Berkeley High School football department says that each year Jim was one of the first people to ask for the Stags football schedule. He even planned his family vacations around the games.

Steven Steele, principal at Berkeley High School, says…

 “Friday nights were something special to him, because he got to see achievement. He used to always say he loved seeing the young people out here on Friday nights… Everyone knew Mr. Jim’s voice. He made a wonderful environment for everyone in town.”

Berkeley High School says that there will not be a football game where Jim Rozier won’t be thought of & missed.
