CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a suspect is now in custody following an early morning vehicle pursuit and search.
Just after 8:00 a.m., deputies began searching for a suspect near the James Island Connector following a vehicle pursuit. We are told the suspect then exited the vehicle and jumped into an area of marsh to avoid arrest.
Charleston and North Charleston Police assisted in the search along with a CCSO helicopter.
We are told the suspect was apprehended just before 9:30 a.m.
During that search, Porter-Gaud School was placed on lockdown at the request of Charleston Police as a precautionary measure.
