Charleston Beer week expands for year six

Local News

CHARLESTON, SC (PRESS RELEASE) – Charleston Beer Week, now in its sixth year, will be held from Friday, September 7th through Saturday, September 15th at participating venues throughout the greater Charleston area. As a result of the continued growth in the craft beer industry throughout the area, event planners have added an extra day this year, resulting in a total of 64 events over the now nine day period.

The area now boasts 24 production breweries and three brewpubs, with two additional breweries and one brewpub set to open in the coming year, and many breweries undergoing expansion efforts, adding additional staff, brewing capacity, and packaging options such as canning lines. A Google Map being used to track the progress can be found and embedded from this link.

While local breweries and brewpubs will be a primary focus for the week, events will also feature many regional and national brands, making for a diverse lineup which will appeal to a broad audience. Many events feature specialty “one-off” beer releases, often brewed just for Charleston Beer Week, while other events feature various food pairings, collaboration releases, tastings and style-specific offerings.

“Charleston’s rapid increase in craft brewing reflects what’s happening across our region – a growing, youthful population attracted to Charleston’s unique character and strong economy, a thirst for innovation and inspiration, and a desire for community. Charleston Beer Week celebrates that growth, these artisans and their passion, and is one of my favorite times of the year.” Steve Warner, economic developer at CRDA.

This year will feature many events raising money for local charities, such as the Surfrider Foundation, Turtle Survival Alliance, Center for Women, Charleston Animal Society, H.F. Help No Kill Rescue, and more.

All 64 events will be posted to the official website over the next few weeks, with event announcements taking place on social media.
