CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man has been apprehended following an hours-long stand off in Charleston County on Monday.
Capt. Roger Antonio with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a residence in the 3600 block of Savannah Highway in response to a subject who barricaded themself inside.
Authorities first received a call regarding a disturbance in the Red Top area around 12:00 p.m.
It was first reported that a female subject ran outside of the residence with a male who was carrying a firearm.
At some point, Capt. Antonio said the female was “brought back into the residence with the male subject.
Capt. Antonio said there were two juveniles, ages currently unknown, also inside the residence.
Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Charleston Police, SWAT and negotiators responded to the scene.
According to Capt. Antonio, the female and one juvenile were brought outside of the home during the standoff while the male subject and another juvenile were still inside.
SWAT eventually helped in taking the man into custody. The woman and two juveniles are safe.
Savannah Highway near Main Road was shut down to traffic for several hours but has since reopened.
