Charleston County Council votes to designate Phillips Community Historic District

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County Council on Tuesday voted in favor of designating the Phillips Community a Historic District.

The community has been fighting for the designation as proposals for a Highway 41 widening project threaten to cut through residents’ land.

The vote was unanimous.
