CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – Charleston County Council is moving forward with plans for a state-of-the-art recycling facility.
Work stopped last year due to concerns about the proposed 57,000 square foot facility off Palmetto Commerce Parkway.
Those concerns included issues with fill soil at the proposed location and because the project was significantly scaled back, which presented questions about the volume of recyclables that the facility would be able to handle.
The Charleston County Environmental Management Committee is working on improving traffic flow and options to expand operations as needed.
The next steps are to advance the design and refine the cost to complete the project.
