Chas County Council considering tax break extension for manufacturing company

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Charleston County Council is expected to discuss a request from Cummins Inc. that would extend a tax break for another 5 years.

The company has spent millions on a manufacturing complex in North Charleston and hired hundreds of workers.

Cummins is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of turbochargers for diesel engines.

The company plans to invest another $25 million in the Lowcountry over the next five years.

The move is expected to generate millions for the local economy.
