Coroner identifies two victims in fatal crash in Awendaw, charges pending

AWENDAW, S.C. (WCBD) – Two victims involved in a fatal vehicle collision in Awendaw have been identified by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

Danyelle and Marshall Altman, both 42, were killed in a collision at Halfway Creek and Steed Creek Road in Awendaw on Sunday.

According to Capt. Roger Antonio with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a two-car collision just before 6:30 p.m.

A truck traveling on Halfway Creek Road ran a stop sign and collided into at a van traveling on Steed Creek Road.

The Danyelle and Marshall both died at the scene because of injuries sustained in the crash, according to Deputy Coroner Anita Hasert.

A 9-year-old female passenger was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, while two other female passengers, ages 5 and 13, were transported with non-life threatening injuries.

The adult male driver of the truck was traveling with two male juveniles, ages 4 and 15, were all transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Capt. Antonio said charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
