CPD on scene as protesters march in Downtown Charleston

Charleston County News

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department monitored protests in Downtown Charleston Friday night.

A group spent hours marching and chanting, despite the threat of storms.

Law enforcement blocked off the intersection of King and Calhoun, which protesters said is a violation of their Constitutional right to peacefully protest.

As of 10:20 p.m., CPD said that the protesters had dispersed.

We have crews following along and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
