CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Lowcountry teacher is on administrative leave after investigators say he assaulted his wife after getting angry over their son.
On April 7th, deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 1800 block of Manigault Place in reference to a domestic assault.
The man’s wife told deputies when she returned home from the store, her husband, William, became upset with their son because he opened a set of $10 headphones because they reportedly belonged to him and not the son.
An incident report shows the woman stated William was cussing and yelling at them, so she began recording it on her cellphone.
The report shows when William realized he was being recorded, he threw his wife on the bed and grabbed her wrists. The son also stated William slapped her in the face.
Deputies say they observed the start of bruising on her wrists and a red welt on her face.
William was reportedly sitting in the car when deputies arrived at the home. He told deputies that he was the one who called 911 and admitted to becoming angry because the headphones were his and because the son lied about opening them.
William was taken into custody and charged with second-degree domestic violence. Records show he was given a $5,000 PR bond.
