JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Fire crews were dispatched to a construction area at the site of the new Camp Road Middle School after receiving reports of a structure fire early Wednesday morning.

The call came into dispatch at 7:22 a.m.

We’re told the cause of the fire was from workers torching the roof to melt rubber onto the surface, but it caught fire.

The fire has been extinguished and crews are clearing the scene.
