Folly Beach says beach-goers should not park in reserved boat landing spots

Charleston County News

FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) – Memorial Day is just around the corner which means it is time to head to the beach. But, before you do, take note of this warning from Folly Beach Public Safety.

They are cracking down on parking tickets in the area and paying close attention to public boat landings.

Folly’s Director of Public Safety, Chief Andrew Gilreath tells us they have issued about 75 tickets to cars parked in boat trailer spots in just the past two months alone.

Gilreath says it’s important to have a plan to park before you get the island.

“Those are truck and trailer parking spots for those who are using the landing. For someone who is not familiar with somebody who trailers a boat, parking is generally very difficult and without those spots that cannot find a good place to park. So, that is why they are reserved for vehicle and trailer parking only,” said Gilreath.

There are several parking lots on the island. You can find maps and directions on Folly Beach’s website by clicking here.
