Mt. Pleasant exploring options for sewer service to Snowden Community

Charleston County News

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – A meeting between Charleston County Council, Mount Pleasant Water Supply and the Town of Mount Pleasant has determined that the Snowden Community will be able to receive sewer services without having to annex into Mount Pleasant.

Members of the Snowden Community have been relying on what Mount Pleasant Water Supply calls a “failing septic system.”

Connecting the community to the sewer will be more financially prudent and environmentally friendly than the outdated septic system.

Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie says that there is a county-town coordination through zoning to protect Snowden from intrusive development.

Mayor Haynie says that the Town of Mount Pleasant has put money on the table to offset sewer hook-up fees for Snowden residents wishing to annex into the town, but they are also exploring a way to provide such for those not wishing to annex.
