Officials investigate early morning fatal shooting in N. Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Nantuckett Avenue in reference to a shooting incident.

Once on scene, officers located an adult male victim inside the front door of the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor stated that the victim was transported to Trident Hospital where he later died.
The initial investigation found that the victim was attending a party at the residence.

As the party was breaking up, the victim became involved in a verbal altercation with three unknown black males, according to officials. According to witnesses, the altercation then led outside and turned into a physical fight. 

During the fight, one of the suspects produced a handgun and fired shots striking the victim. 

The three suspects then fled the location in an unknown vehicle. The victim was able to make it back inside the home where he collapsed.
The investigation is ongoing.
