Officials to remove abandoned and wrecked boats from local waters

Charleston County News

FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCBD) – An effort is underway to get wrecked and abandoned boats removed from coastal waterways.

Folly Beach city officials say they are working with state and federal officials to get this done.

It’s part of the Folly Beach Abandoned Vessels & Marine Debris Removal Project.

In a Facebook post, Folly Beach Public Safety said these run-down boats pose unsafe conditions to our local waterways.

The post says removal work could begin sometime later this year.

There is no word on how many boats they plan to remove or how much it will cost.
