CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Several downtown roadways were closed Friday due to flooding associated with high tide in the morning.
The Charleston Police Department is urging drivers to be careful when traveling through flooded waters and remember the slogan – turnaround, don’t drown.
The Highway 61 split from US 17, near the round Holiday Inn, was closed for much of the morning commute.
Flooding was also seen in the usual locations like Fishburne Street, Hagood Avenue, Lockwood Drive, and on Broad Street.
Storm Team 2 meteorologist Josh Marthers said the risk for coastal flooding will continue through the weekend.
