Police searching for woman who robbed 71-year-old male at gunpoint, stole his vehicle

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Authorities in Charleston need your help identifying a woman who held a 71-year-old at gunpoint before stealing their vehicle downtown.

On the afternoon of January 8th, officers with the Charleston Police Department say a 71-year-old had just finished his shopping at the Family Dollar on Spruill Avenue when an unknown woman asked for a ride into downtown.

The victim agreed and drove the female suspect to the Rosemont Subdivision, where he was then robbed of his cash and cellphone at gunpoint.

We’re told the incident happened at the intersection on Peonie Street and Austin Avenue.

The female suspect then fled the area in the victim’s vehicle, a beige in color 2002 Ford Taurus.
