U.S. Forest Service releases fire restrictions placed on local parks

CHARELSTON, S.C. (WCBD) –Due to the high risk of wildfires, the U.S. Forest Service has released fire restrictions effective starting June 1.

The restrictions cover the entire Francis Marion National Forest and the Long Cane District of the Sumter National Forest.

The following are not allowed:

  • Fires, Campfires, or Stove Fire, including, but not limited to, charcoal grills, and wood-burning stoves  
  • Fireworks, and explosive devices or devices w/flames
  •  Engines without spark arrestors

The fire restrictions will be lifted when the risk of wildfire is reduced.
