The Charleston County Coroner’s office confirmed a Wando High School junior has passed away. Logan Janik, 17, is from Mount Pleasant. The coroner says the cause of his death is still under investigation.

He was pronounced dead at Mount Pleasant Hospital at 6:42 pm on Tuesday.

Wando High School Principal Sherry Eppelsheimer:

Our school community was hit with tragedy Tuesday night, as we lost Logan Janik, a junior at Wando High School. While we are mourning his passing, we are truly heartbroken for his family and friends.

Logan was a young man of high character; he made a positive, lasting impact on those he met. His teachers said he was a pleasure to teach and loved by all.

This is a difficult time for our school and community. We are fortunate to have the support of the Charleston County School District Crisis Team; they are working with our school counselors to help our students and staff cope with the loss of Logan.

A Celebration of Logan’s Life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Seacoast Church Student Center Mount Pleasant, 750 Long Point Road at 1:30 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday in Seacoast Church Student Center from 12:00 noon until time of the service.
