CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Schools throughout the Lowcountry are making schedule changes as severe weather is expected towards the end of the week.

CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Charleston County School District (CCSD) will move to virtual learning on Thursday and Friday in anticipation of Hurricane Ian. A message sent to parents said that Friday, September 30 will be an “eLearning day,” meaning schools will be closed.
The district later announced it would operate on an eLearning day Thursday, September 29th.
Kaleidoscope will not operate Thursday or Friday. All extracurricular activities are canceled. All afterschool activities and programs are canceled Thursday and Friday.
DORCHESTER DISTRICT 2
Dorchester District 2 will implement eLearning days on Thursday and Friday. District leaders said schools and district buildings will be closed on Thursday, September 29, and Friday, September 30.
All after school activities will be canceled. “Schools will communicate with families to share information about the eLearning days,” the district said.
DORCHESTER DISTRICT 4
Dorchester District 4 will have eLearning days on Thursday and Friday. After school activities are canceled for both days.
“Students will have the opportunity to complete eLearning assignments later if unable to, due to power outages, lack of internet service, or other barriers,” the district said.
BERKELEY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Students in Berkeley County will have a half-day on Thursday, September 29th and an eLearning day on Friday, September 30.
All schools and offices will be closed Friday.
After school activities, including after-school care programs and athletics, are canceled for Thursday, September 29. All before and after school activities, including after school care programs and athletics, are canceled for Friday, September 30, and will not resume until Monday, October 3.
COLLETON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Colleton County School District will move to an eLearning day on Thursday and Friday.
All after school activities are canceled for Thursday. Schools and offices will remain closed Thursday and Friday.
GEORGETOWN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Georgetown County School District will implement an eLearning day on Friday.
All after-school activities, programs and athletics are canceled for Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30. Activities scheduled for Saturday, October 1 are canceled or postponed.
WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Williamsburg County Schools and facilities will be closed on Friday and students will have an eLearning day.
All after school and extra-curricular activities for Thursday, September 29, 2022, and Friday, September 30, 2022, are canceled.
PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL
Pinewood Preparatory School will be closed on Friday, September 30. After school activities, including Pinewood Plus, are canceled for Thursday.
PALMETTO CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Palmetto Christian Academy will be closed Friday.
FIRST BAPTIST SCHOOL OF CHARLESTON
The Downtown Charleston and James Island campuses will be closed Thursday and Friday. All afterschool and athletic activities have been cancelled for all campuses Thursday and Friday.
TRIDENT TECH
Trident Technical College is moving to virtual learning Thursday and Friday.
COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
College of Charleston has cancelled classes Thursday and Friday. All college activities will be cancelled after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Residence halls will remain open and students will have access to dining/meal options.
The Cougar Shuttle Service is will be suspended from Thursday evening to Saturday morning.
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
Charleston Southern will move to virtual learning Thursday and Friday.
The campus community will be given the option to stay on campus, stay home, or evacuate as needed.
Dining services will remain open and offer limited options. All food will be served from the Dining Hall only.
The Brewer Center will be open with limited hours.
THE CITADEL
The Citadel will cancel in-person classes Thursday and Friday.
Classes will be held asynchronously – rather than reporting to class during their allotted class times, cadets and students should log onto Canvas for specific instructions from their professors.
CHARLESTON COSMETOLOGY INSTITUTE
The Charleston Cosmetology Institute will have a half-day Thursday and be close Friday and Saturday.
