Motorcyclist dies after Friday evening crash on James Island

UPDATE: Police say the motorcyclist has died from injuries he sustained in this crash.


JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A motorcyclist, who police say was driving recklessly, was seriously injured Friday evening.

The Charleston Police Department responded to the crash near Seaside Lane and Ft. Johnson Road on James Island around 7:10 p.m.

They say a 32-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle, fell off the bike and struck a speed limit sign.

He was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in critical condition.

After conducting a ‘detailed and extensive accident investigation,’ Charleston Police say investigators determined the man, who was not wearing a helmet, was driving recklessly in the area shortly before the crash.

No other details were provided.
