Charleston PD: Suspect arrested following Strong Arm Robbery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston Police arrested a suspect today for a strong armed robbery that occurred August 9 behind the Wells Fargo Bank on the 100 block of Meeting Street, according to spokesman Charles Francis. 

Approximately at 11:25 a.m., a man followed the victim out the rear entrance of the bank, pushed the victim to the ground and took a small bag from him containing money, Francis stated. The suspect then ran south on Meeting Street.

Tanikeol D’Arte Hawkins, 20, of Morrison Drive, is charged with strong armed robbery and unlawful carrying of a handgun, which he had in his possession when he was arrested today, Francis added. Hawkins is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
