Charleston PD: Suspect arrested for Radcliffe Street burglary and assault

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department officers have arrested a suspect for the September 20, burglary and assault at a Radcliffe Street apartment.

Chad Lavictor Simmons, 29, of Rivers Avenue, is charged with burglary 1st degree, assault and with the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, according to Public Information Officer Charles Francis.

Simmons is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.  

The news release stated that  approximately 3:00 a.m. on September 20, a man was inside of an adjacent room in the apartment when he heard a scream come from another room. He got into a brief physical altercation with the suspect.

The suspect said he was in the wrong house and then ran outside. He was last seen running west on Radcliffe Street.

The investigation is ongoing.
