Charleston police arrest 2 for Westwood Drive Homicide

Charleston Police have arrested two suspects for the January 3, 2019 homicide on Westwood Drive.

Brandon Dashaun Olumide Simmons, 19, of Stuart Street, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Samuel Redante White, 27, of Sallie Street, is charged with murder.

Simmons and White surrendered this afternoon to police at police headquarters at 180 Lockwood Boulevard. They’re being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.

On January 3, 2019, police responded to a Westwood Drive residence at about 1:30 a.m. in reference to an unresponsive party. The victim, Jamyia Smith, 18, of Moncks Corner, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMT’s.
