Child transported to hospital following hit-and-run, police searching for vehicle

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A child was transported to a Mount Pleasant hospital after being struck in a hit-and-run early Wednesday morning.

According to Inspector Chip Googe with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the child was crossing Venning Road near Ranns Hill Road on their bicycle around 7:00 a.m. when they were struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle then left the scene without checking on the child.

Inspector Googe said the child was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
